K-drama fans are in for a surreal romantic rollercoaster as ASTRO’s Yoon San Ha and Oh My Girl’s Arin team up for the 2025 fantasy rom-com "My Girlfriend Is The Man!" This upcoming drama is already grabbing attention with its bold plotline involving supernatural transformation, identity confusion, and a heartfelt exploration of love beyond appearances.

The drama revolves around a college couple — Ji Woo (played by Yoon San Ha), a sweet and reserved literature student, and Ha Rin (played by Arin), an energetic and witty visual arts major. The two are seemingly enjoying a sweet and perfect relationship when a mysterious celestial curse upends their lives — Ha Rin wakes up one day in the body of a man.

Played post-transformation by rookie actor Kim Woo Hyun, the now-male Ha Rin tries to navigate their changed life while hiding the truth from everyone, including Ji Woo. However, secrets don’t last forever, and the emotional weight of this gender-swap forces both characters to confront deep questions about identity, love, and acceptance.

"My Girlfriend Is The Man!" challenges societal norms and explores how love can evolve when faced with the unimaginable. As Ji Woo struggles to understand his feelings, viewers are taken on a unique journey of emotional depth. The series handles themes of gender fluidity, the human soul, and the essence of connection with rare sensitivity and nuance.

Arin’s role pushes her acting boundaries as she portrays both the emotional turmoil of her character’s transformation and the duality of trying to remain true to her feelings despite a new physical identity. Yoon San Ha also delivers a compelling performance, torn between confusion, loyalty, and a love that defies logic.

Supporting the lead duo are a range of colorful characters:

  • Lee Jin Wook plays a mysterious alchemist-turned-professor who understands the ancient curse.

  • Kim Sejeong plays Ji Woo’s best friend, whose unrequited feelings add tension to the story.

  • Choi Hyun Wook stars as Ha Rin’s older brother, confused and skeptical of the new Ha Rin.

The drama is helmed by director Yoo Je Won (of "Hi Bye, Mama!" fame) and penned by screenwriter Park Eun Young, known for blending fantasy with heartfelt storytelling. The production promises a dreamy yet emotional ride, mixing comic confusion, psychological tension, and swoon-worthy romance.

"My Girlfriend Is The Man!" is set to premiere in early 2025 on tvN and will also stream globally via Netflix. With its quirky premise and emotional depth, it’s already on every K-drama lover’s radar.

Ever since the official poster dropped, fans have flooded social media with reactions like:

"Yoon San Ha in a romantic dilemma? I’m so in for this ride!"
"This is giving me Goblin x Coffee Prince vibes!"
"Arin and San Ha are such a fresh pairing, and the plot? Totally unique!"

Fandoms from both ASTRO and Oh My Girl have expressed excitement, calling this an “unexpected but perfect” casting move.

What sets "My Girlfriend Is The Man!" apart is how it uses fantasy to magnify human emotions. The magical curse becomes a metaphor for the changes every relationship undergoes — how people evolve, how love must adapt, and how understanding someone means going beyond what’s on the outside.

For fans of emotional fantasy dramas like "The Beauty Inside" or "Secret Garden", this show is bound to feel both nostalgic and refreshingly new.
