The ace of ASTRO, Moonbin died on 19th April 2023 at the age of 25. This sudden news has shaken the Korean entertainment industry along with all the fans of ASTRO. Moonbin had a separate fan base because of his kind heart, great personality and the brightest smile that he used to embrace his fans. He often shared that his biggest strength is his fans and if there is any next life, he wanted to be a part of ASTRO once again. He was a cheerful personality outside, but inside, he was suffering from mental issues for long years. As his cause of death, police have revealed their latest findings to the media.

South Korean Police team who were investigating Moonbin’s death suspected suicide from the beginning of this unfortunate incident. Moonbin’s battle with depression and his last confession about it added to this fact of his possible suicidal decision. Finally police have ruled out any possibility of murder on 20th April and revealed that they are not considering his death a murder anymore. Police also did not find any evidence of trespassing and any sign of foul play which leads to the only two possibility of his death, a heart attack or suicide. 

Moonbin was discovered by his manager of Fantagia at his Gangnam-gu apartment at 8:20 PM on 19th April. His manager went there to check on him as he did not contact him for a while. When he found Moonbin’s body lying lifelessly, he immediately called an ambulance and police. Doctor discovered that he had a heart attack. But what kind of supplement caused his heart attack has not been revealed to the media even after his autopsy is done now. It was to keep his and his family’s privacy. 

Moonbin’s last message to his family and fans has also been revealed which prove his mental state was not good and he was having suicidal thoughts all along. On 8th April, after the concert of their subunit Moonbin & Sanha, he said,

“I was going through a rough time. I tried to not let it show, but I think it did. I’m sorry… I’m trying to get better. I’m exercising and doing things I’ve been missing out on. I have to recover and make Aroha happy. […]I’ve chosen this job, so I need to handle it…”

Before dying on 19th April, his last post from Twitter is also being shared in the internet where he posted a picture of Dandelion. 

He said,

“Aroha, this is a dandelion flower… Ride the wind and spread far and wide!”

His precious message to his Aroha fandom says a lot about his wish. He wanted to fly freely in the wind like a dandelion flower. He also added that Spring has come for him and his precious people and the weather is gently tickling him. His last messages are hurting fans even more now. Fans are realizing that Moonbin was really feeling lonely in his last days. 

Moonbin’s last VoiceLive is also circulating in the internet which proves his mental breakdown before death. In that voice live, he was slowly convincing himself not to take any life threatening steps. He said,

• “You’re tearing up for no reason, can I console you?

• Why are you crying?

• It's okay.

• Sometimes… Yes, sometimes you get teary.

• At times like that, sometimes it helps to just cry it all out.

• You can calm down after a good cry.

• It’s ok. It will all work out.

• Don’t worry.”

These were the last notes of Moonbin before his death which is being considered the last messages for his family, friends and fans. Moonbin could not console himself in the end and finally took his life ending the lifelong depression. Fans are shattered and sad for his death now. His parents, little sister Moon Sua and his ASTRO bandmates are barely coping up with the situation. Currently all of them are staying beside each other to give mental support. Moonbin’s funeral will be held on 22nd April. His body is kept at the Asan Central Medical Center for now and it will be cremated at 8 AM Korean time today. Cha Eun Woo, ASTRO members, BILLIE members, BTS members, IU along with many Korean celebrities and K-pop stars will see him off for the last time and bid their goodbyes.

We never imagined this bright and amazing person would lose his battles with depression and leave us this soon. We hope his family, ASTRO members, Arohas and everyone who loves him can keep patience and send him off with a smile.
