Mercy for None (Korean title: 광장) is an upcoming South Korean noir action drama set to premiere globally on Netflix on June 6, 2025. Based on the popular webtoon Gwangjang by Oh Se-hyeong and Kim Gyun-tae, the series delves into the dark underbelly of organized crime, exploring themes of loyalty, betrayal, and vengeance.
The narrative centers around Nam Gi-jun (portrayed by So Ji-sub), a former gangster who, in a desperate bid to protect his younger brother, severs ties with his criminal past by inflicting a self-injury. Eleven years later, Gi-jun is pulled back into the violent world he left behind when his brother, Nam Gi-seok (played by Lee Jun-hyuk), now a high-ranking member of a rival gang, is found dead under mysterious circumstances.
As Gi-jun embarks on a relentless quest for truth and retribution, he confronts former allies and adversaries, including Gu Bong-san (Ahn Kil-kang), the formidable leader of the Bong San family, and Lee Ju-un (Huh Joon-ho), head of the rival Joowoon organization. The series also features compelling performances from Gong Myoung, Choo Young-woo, and Cha Seung-won, each portraying characters entangled in the intricate web of underworld politics.
Directed by Choi Sung-eun and written by Yoo Ki-seong, Mercy for None promises intense action sequences, complex character arcs, and a gripping storyline that challenges the boundaries of morality and justice.
