Kim Nam Gil and Lee Yoo Mi Confirmed as Leads for SBS New Sci-Fi Vigilante Drama 'Nightmare'

SBS has officially confirmed the main casting for its highly anticipated 2027 tentpole project, "Nightmare" (literal title: Akmong). Leading the series are veteran actor Kim Nam Gil, known for his powerhouse performances in The Fiery Priest, and Lee Yoo Mi, the breakout star of Squid Game and Strong Girl Nam-soon.

A New Breed of Justice 'Nightmare' is a Sci-Fi hero drama set in a world where technology allows people to enter the human subconscious. The story follows a secret vigilante group that targets criminals who have managed to evade the law. Instead of physical prison, these villains are sentenced to "Nightmare" — a psychological prison where they endure horrific visions and are denied even a single night of peaceful sleep.

Character Dynamics Kim Nam Gil stars as Kim Tae Yi, a detective who returns to the force after a mysterious long-term undercover mission. Though he appears rough and changed, his obsession with catching "human trash" is stronger than ever. He joins the vigilante group to hunt those the system cannot touch.

Lee Yoo Mi takes on the dual role of Jang Gyu Eun. In the real world, she is a shy, timid police officer dedicated to victim support. However, inside the "Nightmare" world, she transforms into a cruel and decadent architect who designs the terrifying hellscapes that break the criminals' minds.

Produced by Studio S and directed by Lee Dan (The First Responders), 'Nightmare' is expected to push the boundaries of the K-Drama thriller genre.
