The WWE world is not in shock and saddened by the untimely death of the legendary wrestler Bray Wyatt. WWE chief content officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque revealed last night that the former WWE champion Bray Wyatt, whose real name was Windham Rotunda has passed away at the age of 36!
Rotunda's journey in WWE began in 2009, and he quickly gained attention for his character, Husky Harris. But he gained mainstream stardom when he transformed his character into a maniacal swampland cult leader, Bray Wyatt. Alongside his followers in the Wyatt Family, he won the hearts of the audiences with his devilish charm and cryptic promos. His famous catchphrase "follow the buzzards" and the haunting entrance, where fans would light up the arena with cellphone lights, became iconic elements of his persona.
In 2019, Rotunda took a daring creative leap and introduced his other character "The Fiend". The Fiend was also a polarizing but incredibly catchy figure among the audience and he wore a terrifying clown-like mask. He maintained a kid-friendly presence in the Firefly Funhouse with his Bray Wyatt character and at the same time, showed us a duality of his character with horrifying The Fiend. All these showed us Rotunda's creativity and storytelling power.
Wrestling legends are now mourning his untimely passing with tributes to social media. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson noted that Bray Wyatt's character was "unique, cool, and rare…”. He added Rotunda was truly special in the world of professional wrestling.
Coming from a wrestling family, with his father Mike, known as Irwin R. Schyster in WWE, Rotunda's impact extended beyond the ring. His brother, Taylor Rotunda, also made a name for himself in WWE as Bo Dallas. The late wrestler was married to former WWE ring announcer JoJo Offerman and had four children.
Throughout his career, Bray Wyatt achieved significant success as well. He became a two-time former WWE Universal champion and a former WWE champion. Despite being released from WWE in 2021, Windham Rotunda made a glorious return in 2022 where he rekindled his popular character and mysterious storyline. But fans were surprised when he disappeared from television earlier this year due to undisclosed health issues.
The cause of Bray Wyatt’s death has been revealed now, which is Covid! It seems that Covid-19 has been the main culprit behind the untimely and shocking death of our beloved characters The Fiend and Bray Wyatt. As fans, we will forever remember the eerie darkness of his entrance, the cryptic promos, and the captivating storytelling that made Bray Wyatt a wrestling legend.
