tvN, directors Kim Chul Gyu & Yoon Jong Ho, and screenwriter Yoo Jung Hee, and the main leads Lee Joon Gi & Moon Chae Won, were recently spotted having a meeting when and it has been finally decided that Flower Of Evil is getting a second season with a more twisting plotline and it has been reported the Lee Joon Gi will deliver an exceptional performance this time, which will be more intense, filled with twists and turns which will make everyone gasp. The plotline changes will be thrilling as it will be marinated with great plot twists. We really need to brush off our memories regarding the first season because it will be linked to the second one.
As we know, Flower Of Evil drama centers around, Do Hyun Soo played by Lee Joon Gi, he is a loving and doting father, however Do Hyun Soo is living under the stolen identity of Baek Hee Sung, to escape from his tainted past as he is the son of a famous serial killer. Years of escaping and when he thought he found happiness after getting married to detective Cha Ji Won played by actress Mon Chae Won. One day she unknowingly ended up coming across a case which is related to her husband’s past. As the drama proceeded, the cracks and the loopholes in their perfect marriage life slowly started to fall apart because Ji Wonstruggled with love and betrayal, and suspicions kept on rising Hyun Soo on the other hand tried his best to prove his innocence. Each and every episode was filled with sheer intensity which made all of us gnaw our teeth, in the final episode of the series, the real Baek Hee Sung the police take care of him for good, and Do Hyun Soo is shot, which results into a coma. By the time he wakes up, he suffers from memory loss, which is gutwrenching and painful because he forgets about his wife, Ji Won, and their precious daughter, Eun Ha. Despite that, love won in the end because Ji Won stood by his side, and with time Hyun Soo slowly started to rediscover his past feelings and came to terms with it. The drama ended on a peaceful and teary note when Hyun Soo embraced his daughter, feeling the warmth and homely emotions, once again which proved that even love can fix broken parts and bring back lost memories. It made all the fans and netizens overwhelmed with emotions.
Now season 2 of The Flower Of Evil has it all— this time writers and directors spent years, precisely 5 years creating a masterpiece that will be intense and emotional. Season 2, will focus on Hyun Soo’s journey more as he tries to remember his memories and rebuild his life which will be challenging, given the intense amount of trauma and the painful memories. Hyun Soo will struggle to remember the love he shared with Ji Won and their precious daughter, the familiar feeling will be tainted all over their house but he is still going to feel unsettled because the weight of his past crimes will be hanging over him. It will be complex as he does not really know who is he as a person. This will make him appear distant and hamper his relationship with Ji Won and his daughter, Eun Ha and it will be painful because there will be an episode where Eun Ha will end up crying because of his dismissive behaviour, which will make Hyun Soo feel more guilty, he will be struggling emotionally and be frustrated. He will struggle with his new identity, and memories of the past which will be lingering as a result Hyun Soo will feel like he failed as a father and a husband but Jin Won will try to be patient with him and help him to process his feelings.
We will also get to see, that Ji Won faces an emotional conflict while trying to help Hyun Soo gain his lost memories, at the same time she is afraid to reveal the amount of darkness, Hyun Soo had kept away from them throughout their marriage and if she tells everything it might threaten their happy little family. As a detective and a wife, she will struggle to give Hyun Soo the mental clarity he truly deserves. In Season 1 we did see the case ended regarding Hyun Soo’s past but that isn’t entirely true because there were plenty of things that were left as easter eggs and we didn’t even understand or notice.
Ji Won will further investigate the case only to find out more links from Hyun Soo’s past, a new villain will appear to get his revenge on Hyun Soo for something he did, which will be explored deeply in the second season. This sudden threat and tension moment will put Hyun Soo in a tough position and we may get to see Lee Joon Gi’s dual performance because he will play dual characters, the amnesia everything will trigger him.
Another interesting part will be their daughter Eun Ha will be growing up and she will understand the puzzles and the cases of her parents. However, once she learns about her father, Hyun Soo’s past just a little it frightens her to the core, which will make her question things and Ji Won will struggle a lot as a mother and wife, which will be an emotionally intense moment.
Additionally, there will be more new cases in Ji Won’s life which will be interesting to see, but season 2 will be heavily focused on Hyun Soo’s recovery, then acceptance of the past and discovering his identity all while fighting new cases! He will grow as a person and Ji Won will be his rock.
We are also going to see new faces, and top-tier actors have been listed, such as Lee Byung Hun, Cho Seung Woo, Park Bo Gum, and Kim Soo Ah.
New locations have been booked as well and according to cinematographers, Park Seong Yong, Choi Byeong Hun, and Jeong Jae Ah have selected places such as Jeju Island, Han River, Gangwon Province, and other places that will enrich the drama performance even more. Season 2 will have a total of 10 episodes, and will be aired on tvN, the premiere date will most likely be around, August month and it will be amazing to see what the cast members, production company, and everyone will serve us this time.
