The long wait is over! One of the most beloved fantasy romance dramas, Ashes of Love, is officially returning with Season 2. After years of fan anticipation and endless speculation, the production team has finally confirmed that a sequel is in the works—and it's set to take viewers on another heart-rending journey through the realms of gods and mortals.

Originally released in 2018, Ashes of Love starred Yang Zi as Jin Mi and Deng Lun as Xu Feng. The story of a forbidden love between a flower deity and a fire god captivated millions of fans across Asia and beyond. It combined mythology, fantasy, epic battles, and poignant romance into a visually stunning saga.

Season 1 concluded with a bittersweet yet satisfying ending, leaving many fans with lingering questions and a desire for more.

Ashes of Love Season 2 will reportedly not continue the exact same storyline from Season 1, but will be a spiritual sequel set in the same universe. The new season is expected to feature a new lead couple, but there are strong hints that Yang Zi and Deng Lun may return in cameo roles or even reincarnated versions of their characters.

Production sources say the script is already in development, with filming scheduled to begin in late 2025. The release is tentatively planned for early 2026.

The new season is expected to expand on the mythology of the six realms—heavenly, demon, mortal, beast, ghost, and fairy. The plot may introduce a new flower deity and a celestial warrior, continuing the themes of destiny, sacrifice, and eternal love.

It’s rumored that the central conflict will involve a power struggle among the divine realms, with romance caught in the crossfire. Magic, reincarnation, betrayal, and forbidden love are all expected to return in full force.

While nothing is officially confirmed yet, fans are holding out hope for Yang Zi and Deng Lun’s return, at least in cameo form. The chemistry between the two actors was a major highlight of the original series.

Casting announcements are expected to be made in late 2025. There’s also buzz around rising stars from recent hit dramas possibly joining the cast, adding fresh energy to the franchise.

As soon as the news broke, Ashes of Love fans flooded social media with excitement. Many expressed joy over the continuation of a world they’ve loved for years, while others debated theories about the new plot and characters.

On Weibo and international fan forums, hashtags like #AshesOfLove2 and #JinMiXuFengForever quickly began trending.

With so many C-dramas being one-season-only stories, it’s rare for a high-fantasy romance to get a proper sequel. Ashes of Love Season 2 not only gives closure and expansion to its world but also raises the bar for storytelling in Chinese dramas.

The show’s blend of beautiful visuals, powerful emotions, and layered characters made it iconic—and Season 2 is poised to do the same for a new generation of viewers.

The sequel will likely stream on Tencent Video, iQIYI, or Youku, with global availability via platforms like Viki and Netflix. Subtitles in English, Spanish, and other languages are expected.

Keep an eye out for the official teaser in late 2025!
