Korean cinema is making another huge leap onto the global stage, as the highly anticipated fantasy action film Omniscient Reader: The Prophet, starring Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Min Ho, is officially set to premiere in 113 countries. This ambitious release marks one of the largest worldwide distributions for a Korean movie to date, further highlighting the growing influence of Korean storytelling.

Based on the hit web novel Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, the movie adaptation has generated enormous buzz ever since its casting announcement. The film combines gripping fantasy elements with survival drama and philosophical depth — a winning formula that has already captivated millions of readers.

The producers have confirmed that the film will hit major markets including the United States, Canada, Japan, the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Brazil, and the Philippines, among others. This large-scale release strategy reflects the global demand for Korean content, especially with two of Hallyu’s biggest stars front and center.

The story follows Kim Dokja (played by Ahn Hyo Seop), an ordinary office worker who suddenly finds himself in a world that mirrors the events of a web novel he used to read. As the reality around him collapses into apocalyptic chaos, he becomes the only person who knows how the story unfolds. With the help of the mysterious Yoo Joong Hyuk (played by Lee Min Ho), the main character of the novel, they team up to survive — and perhaps, rewrite fate itself.

This marks the first on-screen collaboration between the two powerhouse actors. Ahn Hyo Seop, known for his emotionally nuanced performances in Business Proposal and Dr. Romantic, takes on one of his most challenging roles yet. Meanwhile, Lee Min Ho returns to the fantasy-action genre after The King: Eternal Monarch, bringing his signature charisma to the dark, brooding Yoo Joong Hyuk.

Both actors have spoken about their excitement for the project. “This film is like nothing I’ve done before,” said Lee Min Ho. “It challenges not just the audience, but also the characters’ very understanding of existence.”

Ahn Hyo Seop added, “Kim Dokja is a complex character. He’s weak, yet determined. Flawed, yet hopeful. I poured my soul into this role.”

Directed by Kim Byung Woo, known for The Terror Live, the movie features cutting-edge CGI, expansive world-building, and a narrative that balances intimate emotional arcs with large-scale destruction. The production reportedly had one of the highest budgets for a Korean film in 2024, further elevating expectations.

The film’s trailer, released last month, garnered over 20 million views within the first 48 hours, with fans praising its cinematic visuals and intense performances.

The movie is set to premiere in Korea on October 3, 2025, with international releases rolling out throughout the same week. Ticket pre-sales are expected to open globally starting mid-September, and streaming rights are rumored to be in discussion with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

Fans have taken to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok to express their anticipation:

  • “Lee Min Ho and Ahn Hyo Seop together in a fantasy masterpiece? I’m SOLD.”

  • “The web novel had me in tears. Can’t wait to see the film adaptation.”

  • “Global premiere in 113 countries? This is how Korean cinema dominates!”

Omniscient Reader: The Prophet isn’t just a movie — it’s a milestone. With a compelling story, an all-star cast, and a global release strategy, it sets the bar higher for what Korean films can achieve on the international stage. Don’t miss this groundbreaking cinematic event in 2025.
