Matt Cardona has recently shared his view again on joining AEW or WWE. But instead of denying the possibility, Matt Cardona seemed positive about joining either AEW or WWE in the near future. Or perhaps, it was another message to the two companies that he is ready to join them if the deal is right!
Since his departure from the company in April 2020, Cardona has embarked on various journeys from AEW to IMPACT Wrestling to the indie circuit. But now, without being desperate to join two of the greatest promotions of the wrestling industry, he shared what it would take for him to consider returning to the big leagues of WWE or making a permanent move to AEW.
In a recent interview, Cardona revealed that while he's open to discussions from both WWE and AEW, he's looking for a specific combination of factors to make the leap. He candidly explained,
"It would take the two C’s: cash and creative. Of course, there’s no promises with creative, but the intention would have to be there."
During his last tenure in WWE, he won championships and unforgettable fan interactions through his Z True Long Island Story YouTube series. But Cardona is now focused on more than just being a part of a roster. He aims to be a wrestling superstar in his own right. Cardona's current path is also self-fulfilling as a wrestler as he has played in promotions like GCW and won titles such as the GCW Championship and NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. He shared that he is now focused on both money and fun and he feels that he is succeeding in doing that even without AEW or WWE.
Despite the current rumors about him appearing on AEW's new show "Collision", Cardona clarified that he is still a free agent and hasn't signed a contract with AEW. The door to both WWE and AEW remains open. But his offer needs to contain the best financial incentive and an optimistic creative direction.
