Edge’s retirement is still unbelievable to his fans and fellow wrestlers who admired him all these years. Amidst his retirement rumors, WWE legends have paid heartfelt tribute to the 25-year career of Edge. On the last night of WWE SmackDown, fans, and Edge himself were seen emotional about his long career. His achievements and WWE journey so far was also showcased on the screen. The video showed the journey from his early days seeking advice from Bret Hart to his iconic moments in Tables, Ladders, and Chairs matches.

Wrestling icon John Cena expressed his admiration for Edge, stating, "I was in awe watching him." The Undertaker also acknowledged Edge's willingness to risk it all for the fans' entertainment. WWE star Batista affectionately named him “the rockstar of WWE". Edge's longtime tag team partner and AEW star Christian also made appearances in some nostalgic footages which made Edge nostalgic. 

On the other hand, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins shared a photo on Twitter that reminded fans about his intense feud with Edge in 2021. Rollins’ tweet about Edge amidst these retirement rumors also proves the fact that it is really going to be the end of an era.

In Edge's last match in WWE, he faced Sheamus, with his wife and WWE legend, Beth Phoenix, and their daughters in the front row. Before the match, Edge revealed that this contest marked the final match of his current WWE contract. Although he did not mention that this is his last match ever in WWE, speculations about his retirement and a potential move to AEW remained the talk of the town. 

While Edge has not revealed anything about his retirement, his trainer and friend, Ron Hutchison, reportedly suggested that the wrestling icon might hang up his boots after this match.
