Do you agree that the last night was one of the most thrilling episodes of SmackDown till now? From Jey Uso’s shocking announcement of leaving the Bloodline and WWE to getting the new WWE United States Champion, this Friday Night SmackDown is surprising on many levels. 

The episode kicked off with Roman Reigns participating in a special segment titled "Hail to the Chief" to celebrate his SummerSlam triumph. Inside the squared circle, Asuka and Charlotte Flair went head-to-head in an intense clash, but the match concluded with interference and no result. AJ Styles faced off against Karrion Kross, where Styles secured his victory after a rollercoaster battle. LA Knight also earned a win over Top Dolla. 

However, the highlight of the night was the WWE United States Title match between Austin Theory and an under-prepared Rey Mysterio. Despite Mysterio's lack of preparation, he showed his fans that he still got this! He invested all his power and patience in the ring. Mysterio launched a big Supplex to send Theory into the corner. But Theory managed to dodge Mysterio's iconic 619 move. But Mysterio executed another 619 to Theory, and this time with more perfection. Thus, the star claimed the WWE United States Championship!

This match was dramatic from the very beginning. In fact, this championship match was to happen between Santos Escobar and Austin Theory in the first place! But Theory attacked him backstage and wounded him up to the point he was no longer able to fight in the ring! To help him out, Mysterio came forward and took revenge in place of Escobar. Soon he defeated his and won the victory.

With this defeat, Austin Theory’s 258 days reign with the title came to an end last night. And Rey Mysterio’s third run with the US Championship began this Friday at SmackDown.
