This Friday, the WWE SmackDown episode gave us an emotionally charged night that left everyone in tears. The show featured some thrilling matches and the farewell face-off of Edge against Sheamus which he won with grace. Let’s dive in and know in detail what happened in the last night’s SmackDown…

The evening kicked off with the Grayson Waller Effect, as the Australian attempted to sow discord between Santos Escobar and the new United States Champion, Rey Mysterio. But the LWO duo remained united even though the former champion Austin Theory interfered between them.

Amidst the chaos, the megastar LA Knight arrived to stake his claim for the gold. Then the stage turned into the Number One Contender's match between Knight and Theory. When they both were tough on each other, The Miz distracted Knight with his commentary. Austin Theory took full advantage of the situation and stole the victory with a handful of tights!

Soon the night’s headline match featured the emotional Edge who won over Sheamus in front of his hometown crowd in Toronto. He celebrated his 25th anniversary in the WWE with this match, but the night was shrouded in his retirement rumors. The entire show paid homage to the R Rated Superstar Edge. The audience saw an emotional video illustrating his career and many wrestling legends paid tribute to this champion.

As the main event unfolded, Edge's wife and fellow Hall of Famer, Beth Phoenix, came in the front row with their daughters to show him support. The Toronto crowd's ovation was also spectacular which showed how much they loved Edge over the years. It is still unknown what Edge will be doing after WWE, but one thing is sure, he is taking this time off to embark on a new journey. 

In other notable matches of the night, Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair paired up to show the audience their amazing teamwork against Damage CTRL members Bayley and IYO SKY. Dakota Kai was also in the corner with Damage CTRL during this powered-up match. This was Iyo Sky's first match since becoming WWE Women's Champion and she really built some momentum of her own in this match. After some chaotic moments, Bianca and Charlotte’s pair defeated Damage CTRL. However, Damage CTRL took revenge backstage and targeted Bianca’s injured leg! 

In another SmackDown match, The Street Profits consisting of Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford continued their winning streak. They defeated Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows’ team The Good Brothers where Michen was also in the corner. After their victory, the crowd saw Bobby Lashley cheering for The Street Profits. His celebration together with the winning team also signaled his alliance with The Street Profits is paying off with their back-to-back winning streak!

Now that the 18th August SmackDown showed off some unforgettable matches, the next Friday night is promising to be even more dramatic with some wrestling legends and more dramas like the Bloodline War.
