John Cena is one of the
most popular and iconic figures in the world of professional wrestling.
Throughout his career in the WWE, he has entertained fans with his impressive
athleticism, intense personality, and unique sense of humor. Now that the
wrestler is also a huge popular figure in Hollywood, we cannot but think about
the times when his acts were too funny or crazy to bear. Today, we will take a
look at 10 of John Cena's craziest and funniest moments in the WWE…
1.
Dr. Thuganomics:
One
of the best crazy events of John Cena's career was his feud with The Rock. This
feud of them delivered some of the incredible promotional battles to their fans
with interesting storylines. Despite The Rock's reputation as a skilled talker,
Cena often emerged victorious in these exchanges. During one such battle, Cena
resurrected his Dr. Thuganomics character and delivered a memorable promo in
which he insulted The Rock. The funniest line was when Cena promised that after
their match, The Rock would require facial surgery just like he had undergone
for his chest, alluding to a real surgery The Rock had undergone in his
wrestling career.
2.
Calling Roman Reigns ‘John Cena
bootleg’:
When
John Cena is in a fiery mood, very few wrestlers can match his level of mic
skills. This was evident during his brief rivalry with Roman Reigns back in
2017 RAW Smackdown Live. John Cena showed us one of his most exceptional
promotional performances that day. Cena didn't hold back in his criticism of
Reigns, whom he described as a "low-quality, mass-produced John Cena
imitation created by the corporation." He mocked Reigns for his
unremarkable nickname, saying "He ain't the guy," and adding
"You're just an ordinary man, dude."
3.
Fan Throws Cena’s
Shirt Back at Him:
It
happened during a match against Rob Van Dam at the ECW One Night Stand PPV in
June 2006, fans demonstrated their disapproval by rejecting Cena's t-shirt when
he offered it to them. But the incident was one of the funniest moments as well
in WWE history. When Cena entered ECW to defend his WWE Championship against
RVD, the die-hard audience had to show they did not like this at all. It was
that time, Cena threw his customary t-shirt into the crowd, only for a fan to
catch it and throw it back into the ring, rejecting it outright! The result was
really funny and it entertained the audience that day.
4. The Prototype
vs. Dr. of Thuganomics:
In 2020, John Cena's WrestleMania 36 bout with Bray Wyatt
was undoubtedly different, taking the form of a cinematic Firefly Fun House
match. This event actually was more of a storytelling than traditional
wrestling. It started with sarcasm and went on like that throughout the match.
It actually proved to be an ideal platform for Cena's outstanding performance!
His portrayal of an nWo member was particularly noteworthy, as he channeled
Hollywood Hogan's persona to great effect, capturing the audience's attention.
5.
Rap Battle:
During
his career, John Cena has performed multiple rap battles and showed his rapping
skill as a former rapper! But one of his most amusing ones was with Big Show
back in 2003. As expected, Cena was able to excel in this rap segment, and the
fact that it was outside of Big Show's usual style made it even more
entertaining. Throughout the segment, Cena delivered some exceptional lines. He
said things like, how Big Show came out from
the toilet and reeking smells. Big Show did not spare
him as well! It left the audience in stitches with their witty rhymes.
6.
2003 Smackdown:
John Cena delivered another impressive rap promo before a
match with Rey Mysterio on SmackDown back in 2003. Even though both wrestlers
were in the ring, Cena took the opportunity to deliver some choice words before
they began wrestling. He made fun of Rey's short height and said in his rap that he is just a baby.
He is confused whether to spank or breastfeed him! The rap was a hilarious
pre-match segment where Cena humorously roasted Rey in a creative way, using
his exceptional rhyming ability to deliver clever and witty lines.
7. John vs Brock:
John Cena and Brock Lesnar have had a longstanding and
legendary rivalry that began early on in their careers. During one such
encounter, John Cena took the opportunity to hilariously roast the Beast on his
way to the ring. Cena made fun of Brock's intelligence and delivered a witty
and comical promo throughout the segment. This got Brock fired up before their
match, which only added to the situation and made the moment even more
entertaining. Although John was defeated by Brock that day, John’s words entertained
the audience that day more than their actual fight!
8. Can’t Touch
Battle:
During John Cena's early days in WWE, he had an outstanding
rivalry with JBL. One of the funniest moments between them was during a
pre-WrestleMania debate in the WrestleMania 21
event. At the time, the rule was that JBL cannot physically touch Cena. But
clever Cena used that rule to harass JBL to his best! He comically vandalized
JBL's limousine by spray painting it and popping a tire, poured water into
JBL's hat, and cut his tie and what not! He spray-painted his shirt as well
with spray. As all he did was harassing him by not practically touching
anything, it resulted in a really hilarious segment.
9. Heel Turn as a
Dance Move:
For a long time, John Cena’s devoted wrestling fans had been
eager to witness John Cena's heel turn. Fans missed his darker side of
character throughout the WWE segments. Finally, during the Raw following
WrestleMania in 2013, Cena made a witty remark about it, which was well
received. He quipped about wanting to dance and performed a few moves, but the
audience's reaction was disappointing. To tease the fans who desired his actual
heel turn, he playfully suggested doing a little heel turn as a dance move! Although
it was just a performance, it was a clever nod to his fans' wishes and an
excellent act of course.
10.
Reprising his Iconic Character:
John Cena's Dr. of Thuganomics persona is considered one of his most impressive gimmicks in his career which is full of savageness and fun. When he makes a brief appearance in this guise, it is usually something exceptional that entertains the whole audience. This was evident when Cena unexpectedly returned at WrestleMania 35 and disrupted Elias' concert, delivering an outstanding promo that pushed the boundaries of the PG rating to their limits. During this segment, Cena had the freedom to do whatever he pleased which led to this wow moment.
