In current K-town, one of the most admired couples is IU and Lee Jong Suk. How they turned from friends to lovers is a swoon worthy fairytale. To make it more gorgeous the pair is soon to be married after 12 years of knowing each other. 

They both could come close because of the similarity they posses. Lee Jong Suk began at the of 15 as the youngest male model ever to walk in Seoul Fashion Week. It was a transition point for him. Likewise, IU made her singing debut at the age of 15. They both were trained to be a k-pop star. Thus they both understand and relate to teenage dreams and struggles in the entertainment industry. 

IU and Jong Suk met in 2012 for the musical show Inkigayo. They depicted a funny, bitter-sweet relation on-screen as a host. Just a year earlier in December of 2011 IU shared,

"When I get older, I will be able to have more chances to date but I feel like I will get sick of it. Meeting someone, dating, breaking up, meeting another person, and repeating the same things—this will all just lead to marriage so I feel like I will get sick of that dating process. I'd rather get married as soon as I become an adult.”

Little did she know Lee Jong Suk is going to be the one with whom she will take the vow. In 2013 they acknowledged each other as close friends. Later year Jong Suk stated,

"I actually want to just kind of skip being in a relationship, and head straight to marriage.”

Then another December 2022 came when Jong Suk confessed at an acceptance speech about his feelings for someone special. He said how IU helped him throughout his military service journey and post discharge period. 

With that the new year 2023 came to us with much hot news. They came out after four months of dating. 

How close they are can be seen through some of events. Self-made K-pop idols, IU sang at a private marriage party which happened to be the wedding of Lee Jong Suk’s cousin. The pair were seen protecting each other with warm eye contact and gestures that provoked their fans into rumors of them dating. But nobody knew until December 31st that the sweet and sour relationship between them had turned into a sweet & romantic one!

Since the two stars have finally come clean about their relationship and both of them seem to be well connected with their families, it is very obvious that this couple is now heading to tie their knots soon!

IU is very honest about her relationship like she always has been in the past. She dated the amazing singer and actor whom we have seen in the drama Potato Star named Jang Kiha. The couple dated from 2013 to 2017 for four long years and they didn’t hide both their relationship and break-up news. Her pair with Lee Jong Suk in the 2012 music reality show Inkigayo was very adored by their fans. Even though many viewers thought that these two cannot stand each other, it was actually the start of an enemy-turned-lover scenario just like a classic K-drama. They always were friends and Lee Jong Suk always had a soft corner for IU that finally saw a ray of hope in 2021 after he came back from his mandatory military service.

Since he came back from his military service, he became even more mature and took the real initiative to be closer to IU.

Now that Lee Jong Suk and IU are totally in love with each other, there is no doubt that these two are going to be great husband and wife. As both have met their families, they are set to tie the knot by the end of 2024!
